Multiple People Shot at Howe Community Park Sacramento — Unlawful Gathering Results in Shooting
Late Saturday evening, an unauthorized gathering of a large crowd at the Howe Park area in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade area descended into chaos when 20 to 25 gunshots were fired as Sacramento County law enforcement were in the process of clearing the crowd.
What Happened
Around 6:30 in the evening, the SCSO was notified about persons reportedly carrying concealed firearms at Howe Community Park in Sacramento. An additional caller indicated a reported fight and individuals fleeing the scene.
An airship was dispatched and swept the area but could not find any physical confrontation.
However, a large crowd had come together at Howe Community Park for what officials called an unauthorized event. Law enforcement personnel positioned themselves around the park, turned on their emergency lights, and took about 15 minutes directing the crowd to leave using public address systems.
While law enforcement cleared the gathering, an estimated 20 to 25 rounds rang out — sending the crowd scattering in panic.
Victims of the Shooting
Four shooting victims — a female and three male victims, ranging in age through their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. Two were treated for immediate injuries, one sustained moderate injuries, and one was treated for minor injuries. All four were reported in stable condition. What Was Found at the Scene
The crime scene was located on the Cottage Way corridor side of the park adjacent to the Home Depot at the 2200 block. The Home Depot store was locked down for a period of time. Extra shell casings were found along Cottage Way, with bullet impacts found in the wrought iron fencing surrounding the nearby Home Depot — confirming gunfire directed south from Cottage Way toward the Home Depot. What We Know About Suspects
According to scanner audio, it was established that a suspect car — described as a Kia vehicle — was intercepted in Solano County with four detainees. Sacramento County Sheriff's units were dispatched to retrieve the detainees and bring them back to Sacramento read more for questioning. Video evidence confirmed two website gunmen were present.
